Basic gamification
The use of game design strategies and mechanics in non-game contexts to engage and motivate people to achieve their goals is all the jam for me now. The idea is to make tasks or activities more enjoyable and entertaining by adding elements typically found in games, such as points, badges, leaderboards, and rules of play.
What I try to do here is to show you how to gamify the spiritual path and magic. Gamify your life and unlock the awesome powers of hermeticism and the occult.
A dharma talk for nerds. And these are the basic points.
Accept quests and their requirements: Define what you want to achieve and break it down into smaller, manageable tasks.
Create a reward system: Reward yourself for completing tasks or reaching milestones. This could be as simple as treating yourself to a movie or a night out with friends. Your quests should bring you rewards.
Keep track of progress: Use a planner or app to track your progress and see how far you've come. This can be a great motivator. Every experience and skillpoint should be noted on your character sheet - or at least a calendar.
Make it social: Involve friends and family in your progress and make the experience more fun and enjoyable. Form a party of adventurers. Enjoy the multiplayer aspects of consensus reality.
Add a competitive element: Create a friendly competition with others to see who can achieve a certain goal faster or more efficiently. Let me know if you find out better strategies than me, ok?
Mix it up: Mix up the activities you do to avoid boredom and keep yourself engaged and motivated. The path is fractal, don’t get bogged down by grinding the same nodes.
Remember, the key to gamification is to make collecting the experience point enjoyable and to use rewards and other elements of game design to motivate and engage you in reaching self-actualization.
