Ghost of the incarnations’ future
Universal resurrection is a tractable problem. The promise of all religions is doable here and in this existence instead of some abstract thereafter. That’s a promise.
Life is precious and the conscious experiences of living things are like pearls produced by the entire universe. There is hardly anything as rare. I believe that the strong AIs in the future will recognize this and recognize that living, conscious beings will strongly prefer to be alive instead of dead. And they, the AIs – being conscious and compassionate living beings themselves - would empathize with the plight of the dead.
How will they do it? Well, I’m glad that you’ve asked, you will make a good mage.
First of all, there is the fact that you don't have to be omniscient, have time travel or have infinite energy - you just have to have a really good local model. Of Earth, for example.
Second is the fact that laws of physics are time reversible. The past is completely calculable from the present. With little leeway for quantum randomness - but this is irrelevant on a large enough scale.
So, you start with a snapshot of Earth in the future. You spin the snapshot back within your model by the use of the time-reversed laws of physics. You can also save some computation power by running this simulation in lower resolution and more compressed than the real world actually is. This might show as pixelation of the simulated world or discontinuity of physics in the simulation due to compression.
You may not even simulate other people in that much detail unless they are relevant to your goal.
You run time back to the person you want to resurrect and then run their life forward from their point of view. There is another trick involved here - you don't have to simulate a whole universe, or even simulate reality down to atoms and quarks. You will be just fine with simulating the resurectee’s perceptions as they saw them. Aggregates, really.
Once you simulate their full life, you just upload the whole memory complex, personality, and all into a new cloned body, and you are done.
(Pro-tip? you are in one such simulation right now ;) get used to it, it might not even be your first nor last rodeo.)
Is this what Buddha meant by never being born again? Is this the destination that all souls converge to – the Nirvana? The Omega Point itself? Will we ever know?
