Or - as the popular saying goes, you are what you eat. Today’s article is about the fact that this is twice as valid for your mind. For you become what you feed it. Let it consume only what benefits you.
This is called mental hygiene. Because you wouldn’t eat rotten meat, right? You would wash your hands after making them dirty or better yet - not make them dirty in the first place. You would sanitize a mold from your home.
Mental hygiene is similar to physical hygiene in that it involves taking care of oneself in order to maintain overall well-being. Just as physical hygiene practices help to prevent illness and maintain physical health, mental hygiene practices help to prevent mental health problems and promote overall mental well-being.
I might not be the one to tell you what to do, but trust me, this is a very important concept, simple, effective, and will make your life so much better you won’t believe it.
You can hardly keep a positive and loving mindset if you feed your mind negativity.
Get yourself out of negative situations. Just excuse yourself and walk away. If you get into situations with negative people that you can’t just leave, try to figure out a positive spin – why are they saying what they are saying? How could it be good for something, what is this trying to teach me? For if nothing else, situations like these are a good way to train self-control.
And for all that is good in life - leave toxic relationships. No matter who they are - take the courage to say no and leave. Be honest with yourself - it is not good for you and maybe never was. Do yourself a favor. Don’t even explain – they know very well why you left.
Stop watching mainstream media. All of them. Maybe even quit the news altogether. The most important stuff will get to you anyway and the rest is only meant to make you feel miserable. They are designed to keep your personal power down. They are made to keep you scared and in negative vibes.
Mainstream media and news outlets can’t even comprehend the concept of truth anymore anyway.
There is nothing in this reality worth losing your mental health for. Or even your self-esteem and self-respect. Either people talk to you as equals, or you have no obligation to talk to them. Just leave all that makes you consistently feel down and sucks the energy out of your life.
Keep an eye on what your mind consumes for the quality of your life depends on it.
