“Enlightenment is far less about seeing the light than it is about lightening up.”
*this page is under construction and hopefully always will be*
Ok, I have been thinking a long time about what I’m even trying to accomplish with this blog and decided that I will try to serialize here, as simply as possible, a “how to” for reaching awakening. I hope you can follow along and we get something out of it together — one sangha.
First of all – yes. It is possible to reach it by following straight forward and simple method with some dedication. And even a householder, a person entangled in a “normal” life can get there. Persistence, curiosity, and honesty are the key.
Many will confirm that it is arguably less complicated than getting a medical degree.
And it can happen to you.
So how to actually do it? Let’s start with a bit of “general” info:
There are many different paths and practices that can lead there – the most common ways include the development of:
Persistence:
Developing moral virtues, and studying spiritual teachings in some combination.
Virtue:
Brahmaviras
Knowledge:
Studying spiritual teachings
Reading books
Experiments
All aim to engage in deep inquiry and reflection in order to gain insights into the nature of reality.
It is a search for truth and a process of getting to know yourself. Aim for the truth, do not grasp for attainments and you will find the path for yourself. It is a simple science. Follow the method, verify it experimentally for yourself and you will get the results.
It is a process of slowly hacking your own mind so that you can get administrator access. I will try to take on the methods here one after another – I will give you a package of meditations and prayers with a shelf full of high-quality books to study. I will also tell you about what moral virtues Buddha recommends. My own path was mostly based on these.
By following the correct method of meditation, we can go beyond just calming our minds, and instead use it to connect with our innermost being and cultivate a sense of inner peace, experience a deep feeling of connection and oneness with all things, and a contentment that goes beyond the fleeting pleasures and distractions of the world, out of the hedonistic treadmill into true peace, happiness, and joy.
Meditation is not just a technique or a tool, but ultimately a way of being and living. It is not something that we do for a few minutes each day, but a way of being present in each moment and connecting with the present moment.
In the end, awakening aims to reach a deep understanding of reality’s true nature and live in harmony with that understanding. You enter the stream and stay with the flow. The weight is lifted off your shoulders.
If you can take up this quest, I believe the reward is well worth it.
This page will serve as a dispatch to all the tricks I have found out or developed myself. All the tools I have used and verified. The idea is that if you follow this protocol, attainment is inevitable.
